The EHS Site Team Leader will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards at the Bohemia, NY facility. This role emphasizes fostering a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement within the organization.

As an individual contributor, you will need to flex your influencing skills and give direction indirectly as you lead projects across the finish line with experts from across the organization. This position offers a career path to senior leadership and reports to the Senior EHS Manager, who oversees both the Bohemia, NY and Pompano Beach, FL facilities.

You would make a good candidate for this position if you have led the EHS function at a smaller site or have played a significant subject matter expert role that influenced senior leaders to find the right solutions for the business. Ability to speak to your project management and problem solving skills is critical.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day EHS Support to individuals located at manufacturing sites and fixed facilities (e.g., a service shop or O&M site)
  • Initiates, preforms, develops, and oversees all aspects of EHS training and documentation
  • Directs implementation of company EHS programs, to include developing EHS methods, procedures and policies based on company guidelines
  • Monitors compliance programs and company metrics analysis and improvement system
  • Investigates EHS related incidents using root cause analysis methodologies implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure
  • Monitor, review, and manage site safety concerns, partnering with operational leaders to closure
  • Management of hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous waste programs
  • Management of air inventory permitted programs 
  • Management of SPEDES wastewater and stormwater programs 
  • Demonstrate flexibility to provide support to employees across all shifts

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field from an accredited university (or college or High school diploma / GED with minimum of 8 years of experience demonstrating progressive leadership accountability)
  • Plus, a minimum of 4 years of related EHS experience with a focus in conducting safety audits, investigations, risk assessments, and/or implementing safety programs

 

Additional Information

  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status.
  • Note- the internal title will be equivalent to an EHS Specialist

 

Desired Characteristics 

  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • Experience with EPA, DOT, OSHA, and NFPA regulations
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office Tools 
  • Preferred experience in Gensuite EHS Tool 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

The base pay range for this position is $96,700 - $135,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.  This posting is expected to close on 5/5/2025.
